27.04.2024: Omaruru/Erongo Region

Leaving the coastal charm of Swakopmund behind us, we set our sights on the picturesque Erongo region, with the small town of Omaruru being our next destination. Heading inland, the landscape gradually changes, revealing rugged mountains, vast plains and rocky outcrops.

As we reach Omaruru, we are immediately captivated by its picturesque charm and relaxed atmosphere. Nestled amongst towering granite hills, this historic town exudes a sense of calm and timelessness. We immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the Erongo Wilderness, an unspoilt landscape of towering granite peaks, hidden valleys and ancient rock formations. This is an opportunity to visit the Cloud 9 Project, where we may find a second home.

Our accommodation for the night was actually supposed to be Camp Mara, but we had to change our plans at short notice because the water pump broke down the day before. So we spent the night in town at Kashana, an oasis of calm in the city. We enjoyed the afternoon by the pool and with the obligatory sundowner at the bar.
As darkness falls, we enjoy a delicious dinner in the Kashana restaurant under the African starry sky.
