In the morning, the Erongo Mountains greet us with wonderfully clear air and a first-class bird concert. The thin walls of our "glamping" tents hardly keep out any noise and so we wake up with the birds. The rain brings a variety of insects and the feathered animals also benefit from this.
For breakfast there is zebra salami, smoked oryx meat, millipap, guava jam and prickly pear juice. A delicious journey through the world of Namibian food, which we really appreciate. It is hard for us to leave this idyll in the middle of nowhere, but the drive back to the Astra Hunting Farm is long and the pad has suffered a lot.

So we set off after breakfast and drive east via Omaruru past Okahandja and Windhoek. We had actually planned a quick visit to the famous wood carving market in Okahandja, but this - like a stop in Windhoek - falls victim to a visit to the Ombuerenende farm of our friends Heide & Sigi Baas.

Heide treats us to freshly baked cheesecake and we reminisce about old stories and new developments. The "lake" on which our daughter could go on a paddle boat tour 10 years ago no longer exists. There were very dry years and it remains to be seen whether this year's rainfall will compensate for that.
After many old and new stories, we finally drive on to the Astra Hunting Farm and arrive there in time for the sundowner. Stefan spoils us with grilled oryx steaks, pasta with a sauce of Kalahari truffles and the local pumpkins, called squashiest. And so our tour draws to a close.
