We actually don't have anything planned for today, but that's about to change. By chance we find out that there is a 4x4 trail in the nearby Aussenkehr National Park that is supposed to be very worth seeing. To do this you have to buy a permit from the local SPAR supermarket (N$ 100 = approx. EUR 5.70) and you get the key for the lock on the gate at the entrance.
Of course, there is no plan (anymore), so the security colleague describes the way to the entrance to us. Thanks to this good description (past the radio mast, then there is a depression and you see a football field. Then another 20 meters and my grandma is cooking soup - or something like that) we find the entrance and another canyon on our tour awaits us.

The first part of the route in particular is a scenic highlight: the canyon is vertically structured, while the Fish River Canyon had horizontal structures. It must be an El Dorado for natural climbers and we actually find one or two safety devices in the rock. For us, the first part is more touristy and can be easily managed with any vehicle with a little more "legroom".

That changes over the course of the route and the second part requires a powerful engine. A 4x4 vehicle with a high ground clearance and a powerful engine is essential for the subsequent passages. We are travelling in a Land Cruiser (built in 2002) whose V8 engine with over 300 hp does a very good job. Nevertheless, the passenger always gets out at the critical points and plays the role of pilot - an unusual challenge which we both master well together.

The rest of the day is spent buying provisions (especially water) and relaxing by the pool.
