After 20 days of building the nest, 5 days of laying eggs and 13 days of incubation, the time has come after a total of 5 1/2 weeks: the chicks hatch. Within 24 hours, 4 young are born; only one egg does not seem to be carrying any brood.
The female tit helps the chicks to emerge from the egg and eats the eggshell after hatching. While she usually stays with the young, the male brings food in the form of small insects, which are fed directly to them.
