The IP camera used allows you to switch to infrared mode manually or automatically when lighting conditions are insufficient. An IR filter is pushed in front of the lens and a series of IR LEDs are switched on. This infrared light, which is invisible and harmless to humans and birds, allows you to take pictures in the dark.
In principle, these images cannot have any color and are therefore recorded in black and white. Of course, the beautiful coloring of the birds is lost, but you can also take pictures at night or in twilight. To avoid disturbing the birds with the quiet "click" when switching, I have switched off the automatic function for the night so that switching only takes place in exceptional cases.
