4 Sep.: Robinson on Zanzibar

We have booked a Robinson Crusoe tour for today and after breakfast we set off, well equipped, in a traditional Zanzibari boat, a Dauw, to the small offshore island of Pungume. The motor makes fairly quick progress, but our food and other materials are brought along in a more modern small boat.
After about 1 1/2 hours we reach our first destination just before the island, a small coral reef. Here we can snorkel and experience the underwater world. There are various corals, large and small fish and every now and then you suddenly find yourself in the middle of huge schools of fish swimming around you. A great experience!

We then have lunch on a sandbank where a grill and seating have been set up in the shade. There is octopus, swordfish, shrimp, lobster, ... and all this in a tropical setting.

Martina and Jörg are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary today and after celebrating with a bottle of champagne at lunch, the lodge moved our table to the beach and set a banquet table there. As usual, we are treated to all kinds of delicacies and enjoy the excellent food at the Unguja Lodge right above the surf.
To top it all off, the team served us a huge cake, which we shared with the other guests (there were still only 4 Brits) and the service team. We would have suffered a food coma if we had eaten it alone.
