You often see them from afar, the ostriches. But getting a proper photo is difficult. That can be changed at Thekla and Udo Unkel's ostrich farm. It is located about 10 km west of Grootfontein on the way to the Hoba meteorite on the trail 2859 and is open to visitors. Farmer Unkel is happy to talk about the breeding of these unusual-looking giant birds. Of course, the farm kitchen offers a hearty ham platter made from ostrich meat - an ideal lunch. For eggnog, one egg from ostriches is enough for several bottles.
